Join us for a great weekend of competitive racing in beautiful Colorado on a challenging 2.55-mile track with rolling terrain that provides over 70 feet of elevation change!
Welcome to RMR’s combined Club Race and HPDE. Club racing is one of PCA’s premier driving events with 26 Club Races held this year and spanning coast to coast. The very first PCA Club Race was hosted by the Rocky Mountain Region in 1992 at Second Creek racetrack. Members of the Rocky Mountain Region take pride in this historic event. The Region has run the race at Second Creek, at Pueblo Motorsports Park and now at High Plains Raceway.
NOTE: The HPDE event is in conjunction with the National Club Race being held the same weekend. Only experienced drivers are allowed to participate. To qualify for the 2022 Rocky Mountain Thunder HPDE you need to have:
- If local to RMR,
- You have driven in at least two RMR/AMR HPDE events in the last two seasons
- You have driven in at least one event at High Plains Raceway
- If an out-of-town DE participant
- You are an HPDE instructor or an intermediate-advanced driver having driven solo for at least 4 days on at least 2 different tracks
- You can provide a track driving history and/or reference contacts with your local club’s chief driving instructor
Shared-driver cars will be allowed provided that one driver has previously run in the Expanded Passing run groups (check with the HPDE Chief Driving Instructor for permission).
We will have two HPDE run groups. The “Red” run group, for instructors and expert level drivers, will utilize PCA’s “expanded passing” protocol where passing is allowed most anywhere on track with a point-by. The “Blue” run group, for advanced and intermediate level drivers, will utilize conventional passing only on the longer straights with a point-by.
DE drivers are also invited to participate in the HPR open-lapping day on Friday.

PCA Clubracing COVID protocols
Thankfully, COVID-19 restrictions have been relaxed, however, we recommend that all occupants of vehicles participating in lunchtime charity rides be either 1) same household members, or 2) “fully vaccinated” (e.g., 2 weeks after vaccination regimen completed). Always feel free to use “social distancing” and masks as you see fit and comfortable. Hand sanitizer, masks and wipes are freely available. Of course, COVID-19 restrictions could change so stay informed.

RMR Saratoga Inn & Snowy Range Tour
September 22-23, 2022
We are excited to again offer the popular mid-week tour for 2022! This unique 2-day RMR-PCA scenic tour begins on Thursday morning, September 22nd in Fort Collins, CO. The route this year heads north out of Ft. Collins on US 287 then onto Co Highway 14 taking us over Cameron Pass (10,276 ft.). We descend to a large open valley named North Park. Passing through the town of Walden, CO., we travel north on CO Highway 125 into Wyoming where the road changes to Wyo. Highway 230 and then joins Wyo. 130 to Saratoga, WY (elevation 6,786 ft.). We stay overnight at Wyoming’s premier mineral hot springs and spa destination, the Saratoga Hot Springs Resort.
The resort has everything you need: Snowy Mountain Pub and Biergarten, guest-only soothing mineral hot spring pools and teepee-covered hot pools, vintage western-style rooms and suites, full service spa, restaurant, golf course, fitness center, sport court, gear and equipment rentals.
Upon check in, each guest will get a token for a beer and homemade pretzels in the Biergarten and will have the opportunity to use the pools.
Lunch is on your own in the pub or you can explore the town of Saratoga for a meal. In the evening we will have a catered dinner at the Platte Valley Community Center. Catering by the popular Cantina Restaurant – https://www.cantinasaratoga.com/
After a leisurely breakfast on your own, Friday at 10 AM we will drive the final leg of the tour via “The Snowy Range Scenic Byway”. The Byway route rises from 6,786 ft. at Saratoga to a height of 10,847 ft. at the “Snowy Range Pass”. The drive will then descend to the city of Laramie, WY. Then we finish the tour at the Wyoming Territorial Prison. From here, we encourage participants to spend the weekend exploring the wonders of Wyoming or heading back to Saratoga if you took the opportunity to book extra nights at the Saratoga Inn. Your tour committee will provide a number of suggested activities to consider for a weekend adventure in Wyoming when you receive your tour confirmation email.
Don’t miss this opportunity for a 250-mile, overnight adventure through Colorado and Wyoming’s scenic roads with your friendly Porsche club companions! Registration on MotorsportReg.com opens August 15 and closes August 21st. The registration fee includes the catered dinner at the Platte Valley Community Center on Thursday evening.
