SAVE THE DATE FOR THE NEW OVERNIGHT 2020 RMR SARATOGA, WY. & SNOWY RANGE TOUR

AUGUST 27 – AUGUST 28, 2020!

**** Registration will open on MotorsportReg.com in MAY****

We are excited to introduce an unusual mid-week tour for 2020! This unique 2-day RMR-PCA scenic drive tour begins on Thursday morning, August 27th in Fort Collins, CO. The drive route will take us across the east side of Horsetooth Reservoir for a great view of Ft. Collins and the CSU Campus. The route winds up Rist Canyon, onto Colorado Highway 14 taking us over Cameron Pass (10,276 ft.). We descend down to a large open valley named North Park. Passing through the town of Walden, CO., we travel north on Colorado Highway 125 into Wyoming where the road changes to Wyoming Highway 230 and then 130 to Saratoga, WY (elevation 6,786 ft.). We stay overnight at Wyoming’s premier mineral hot springs and spa destination, the Saratoga Hot Springs Resort.

The resort has everything you need: Snowy Mountain Pub and Biergarten, guest only soothing mineral hot spring pools and teepee-covered hot pools, vintage western-style rooms and suites, full service spa, restaurant, golf course, fitness center, sport court, gear and equipment rentals.

Upon check in, each guest will get a token for a beer and pretzels in the Biergarten and the ability to use the pools. You can choose to order lunch in the pub or explore the town of Saratoga for lunch. In the evening we will have a banquet dinner served in the Silver Saddle Room.

On Friday at noon, after a leisurely breakfast and additional time to enjoy a morning dip in the wonderful pools, we will drive the final leg of the tour via “The Snowy Range Scenic Byway”. The Byway route rises from the 6,786 ft. at Saratoga to a height of 10,847 ft. at the “Snowy Range Pass”. The drive will then descend to the city of Laramie, WY. finishing the drive at the Wyoming Territorial Prison. From here, we encourage participants to spend the weekend exploring the wonders of Wyoming before heading home from an extended weekend event.

Don’t miss this opportunity for 250-mile, overnight adventure through Colorado and Wyoming’s scenic roads with your friendly Porsche club companions! Registration on MotorsportReg.com opens later in May and will include a reception and dinner on Thursday evening. Discounted rate codes for the reserved room blocks at the Saratoga Hot Springs Resort will be provided upon registration.

This tour will be limited to 50 guests so be sure to look for the announcement of open registration and sign up early!

Co-chairs for the 2020 RMR Saratoga & snowy Range Tour are John Donahue, Vicki Cox Jones and Holly Jackson (contact jdogden@aol.com for any questions).

Dear members,

I wrote to you recently about COVID-19 and the cancellations of events as a result.  As I previously discussed, the RMR Board would review our events on a rolling basis and determine what additional events should be cancelled or postponed.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 has become a national emergency.  Both Governor Polis and President Trump have issued guidance and directives making clear that the RMR Board must take further action:

The April 2nd membership social and April 4th Breakfast Club North were previously cancelled by the Board
April 11th Breakfast Club is cancelled
April 14th Board Meeting will be by phone conference
April 19th Edelweiss Tour is cancelled
April 25-26 Autocross and School is cancelled/postponed
May 2-3 HPDE at HPR is cancelled
May 2nd Helga’s Tour is cancelled

We have “penciled in” the autocross school on the weekend of May 30th assuming we can resume events at that time.  We will provide you more information as the date nears.

The Board is continuing its policy to review later socials, tours and driving events on a rolling basis, and determine what action to take based upon the status of COVID-19.

I continue to be in contact with the presidents of other large PCA regions.  The communications are allowing adoption of consistent policies.

We will keep you advised of the quickly evolving COVID-19 developments related to RMR.

By and for the Board of the Rocky Mountain Region, Porsche Club of America, Inc.
