This year, the Board of Directors established a new committee whose purpose is to increase the RMR Porsche Club’s involvement in community outreach and giving. Our mission statement is as follows: The Rocky Mountain Region (RMR) Porsche Club believes in the importance and benefit of supporting its community through various charitable organizations.

Why should one participate in an RMR-sponsored community event? Take a look at Webster’s definition of charitable. The word, let alone the act, defines who we strive to be as individuals and as a group. Although altruistic, don’t we all endeavor to be benevolent, generous and kind? Many of us support particular organizations, and our purpose is not to take away from any personal support from a charitable organization, but rather provide additional opportunities for us to donate our time and talent. President Dwight Eisenhower once said that “Humanitarianism is a link that binds together all Americans... Generosity has never impoverished the giver; it has enriched the lives of those who have practiced it.”

As a club, we have already had several successful events, including our latest—Toys for Tots—in which club members generously participated by donating two tables full of toys and giving cash donations for the Marine Corps’ annual Christmas drive.

Co-chairs Nancy Warren and Camilla Rosenberger—along with fellow committee members Florence Mackin, Christine Powers and Luann Dodge—are meeting on a monthly basis to establish protocols and procedures. The committee will also be evaluating requests received by RMR for donations and member participation in charitable organizational activities, and making recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding what events and charities to support. In addition, they will be organizing events for RMR club participation and communicating with members regarding the specifics. It is the committee’s goal to choose one activity per quarter that the club will support, sponsor or participate in as a RMR club activity. We will strive to choose a variety of activities and organizations to which to lend support.
