Autocross School and AutocrossDick’s Sporting Goods ParkSaturday, May 1 - Autocross School Sunday, May 2 - Autocross Online registration Registration Costs
If you missed last year’s Autocross School—canceled due to snow—here’s your chance to make up for it! Autocross is not only a “performance driving event,” but a safe way to learn how to drive your car at its limit. You not only learn how to handle your car at speeds that you drive daily, but you also: Autocross is a great way to exercise your driving skills in a safe environment. Instructors will be available to you during the school to teach you these skills. Each autocross has a different and unique course design and will undoubtedly provide you with a fun driving experience. Finally, autocross is a social gathering of new and old friends and is lots of fun! Mark your calendars for this fun and exciting RMR event, to be held in the parking lot of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The autocross school is an event that we encourage you to try whether or not you plan to autocross or participate in drivers education events in the future. Our excellent club instructors will work with you while you learn the capabilities of your Porsche (or other chosen automobile) and yourself, with plenty of driving time through three car control exercises. Learn about car balance through two slalom courses, throttle steering around two different skid pads, and how to plan and look ahead while manipulating your way through a mini autocross course. We guarantee one thing—you will leave the autocross school with a huge smile and will be ready to prove your new-found skills on the full autocross course on Sunday. Plus, the knowledge you gain of your vehicle’s capabilities and the driving tips from our trained instructors will be directly applicable to everyday driving and will make you a more alert and safer driver on the road. Do you have a licensed 16- or 17-yearold that no longer appreciates your insightful driving tips? The autocross school is a perfect event for them to improve their skills and get a taste of the motoring bug. Your patience may be stretched, but our instructors are up to the challenge! Online registration is now available. We recommend registering early for the school, as it is very popular and limited to 65 students. Sign up early to get in on the action! Though a Porsche is not required, we can only accept SUV’s with a Cayenne badge, and no pick-ups. Please see the RMR Web site for additional information on autocross events and to find the registration link. “Walk-in” registration (cash or check only) will be available— space permitting—for the school and autocross. However, pre-registration helps the process flow smoothly and assures that we have enough warm beverages each morning. You will need a Snell 2000 or Snell 2005 certified helmet (the club has some loaners). You will need to bring snacks, lunch and non-alcoholic refreshments, as there will be no concessions available at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. You do not need to have your car pretech’ed. There will be top tech at the event each day—you must empty your car of all loose items (floor mats, bags, cans, etc.), empty the glove box and door pockets, and perform a basic tech inspection (secure battery, firm brakes, no significant leaks, etc.). Autocross setup requires a platoon of volunteers! If you can volunteer, please contact one of the event chairs and prepare to arrive in time for course setup. Event Chairs
